
The troubled life of Marlon Brando's son Christian came to an end today when the screen legend's offspring died at age 49 after being hospitalized with a diversity of medical problems. Christian Brando had been involved in an infamous 1990 shooting that resulted in the death of his sister Cheyenne's boyfriend. The slaying took place in the home of Marlon Brando and resulted in a high profile trial in which the Oscar-winning actor, who normally shunned the spotlight, was forced to testify. In a tearful courtroom appearance, he took responsibility for being a less-than-stellar father figure. Christian, who was named after Fletcher Christian who Marlon Brando had played in Mutiny on the Bounty, ended up pleading guilty to manslaughter and spent five years in prison. The tragedies relating the Brando family continued in 1995 when the 25 year old Cheyenne committed suicide. The elder Brando spent his own last days in a reclusive state, reflecting back on lifetime that brought him enormous acclaim and wealth but also personal hardships relating to his failed marriages and his troubled children.
