Possible Daredevil Reboot in the Works

In an interview with Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman, he confirmed the studio is “thinking very seriously” about rebooting the Daredevil franchise.

IESB’s Robert Sanchez talked with the executive, who said he was encouraged by the public’s ability to give the Hulk character another chance.  (By the way, the new Hulk made almost the exact same money as the original Hulk, but five years later.  So it wasn’t much of a success.)  No word on a script, director, actors, or story.  Just that it could be “soon.”  Glad someone was there asking all the right questions.

The 2003 version starred Ben Affleck as the blind superhero in a red leather suit.  It was generally panned by critics and audiences alike (44% on Rotten Tomatoes is surprisingly high), but managed to make $102.5 million domestically.

Of course with any reboot, the successful new Batman franchise is brought up again.  Rothman explains how the new Daredevil would draw from the WB model:

What it really needs is, it needs a visionary at the level that Chris Nolan was. It needs someone, it needs a director, honestly, who has a genuine vision.

Does anyone else think it’s ironic he’s talking about “a genuine vision” for a character who’s blind?

Here’s my pitch.  You have Daredevil, a blind hero, fight a villain who has no arms.  Then you’ve got a guy punching randomly in the dark while just a torso tries to headbutt him.  At least this time the movie will be entertaining.
